Matthew Henry Gardens

Sitting at my desk, I am being distracted by a pair of Eastern Spinebills, flitting and flying between my window and the pomegranate tree, whose tangled tracery is slowly being clothed by red new growth. I am far too slow to be able to capture with a camera such brisk, urgent movement. It is spring and the supersaturation of sound and colour and the widespread profusion of growth is constantly drawing my eye away from the screen, which is a good thing, unless you are trying to get some work done.

Over the past couple of years, I have been working hard with my team to maintain, develop and create gardens in the Strzelecki Ranges and on the Gippsland Plain along the Bass Coast toward the Prom. I chart this work to some extent on Instagram and other social media platforms (I hope you follow me there), but there is a part of me that finds it difficult to stop, reflect and celebrate our work. My usual response to completing a landscape design project, is to get started on the next one.

So here are a few snaps of gardens we have designed, built and planted. Some of these gardens were constructed by Ben at Bass Coast Landscapes and Excavations and Patrick at Patrick Hennessy Landscaping
